Is Metzler Home Builders a Good Fit For My New Home?
I am looking for a builder who can complete my project as fast as possible.
No. At Metzler Home Builders we strive for excellence in all that we do. We want to make sure things are well planned in the pre-construction phase, and executed smoothly in the construction phase. This typically results in a longer planning process for the project and many times requires more time to construct.
I am hoping to find the cheapest builder.
No. We pride ourselves on being competitive for the level of craftsmanship we offer, and for being transparent about pricing. We are interested in providing you with a high-quality project rather than the least expensive alternative.
I would like to find a builder that will listen to what I want and not push their own agenda.
Yes. We enjoy working with clients who have a good idea of what they want in their project. Our team is ready and able to provide professional input at every stage of the process. We also realize that you and your family have a unique story and your home is ultimately yours. Actively listening to the vision you have for your home is integral to who we are. While we will not compromise on things like code compliance or your safety, the style, aesthetic, and performance of your home has many levels and variables which can be tailored to your needs, desires, and budget.
High-end homes are nice, but I need a builder who can build me a simple, cost-effective home.
Yes. We are available to build anything from a modest starter home to a large, complex and detailed home. We will generally not be your cheapest option, however our baseline, or standard of construction, and materials is also different from what you will find with most production builders.
We have many efficient designs in our design catalog that may be a good starting point for your project.
I have many contacts in the building trades and want to coordinate my own project, but I need a builder to help me because the bank won’t finance the project for me as the general contractor.
No. While we do occasionally allow for a client to bring in their own subcontractor or supplier (if they are qualified and working in the residential new construction industry), we do not pursue jobs where we are left to manage a large portion of trade partners with which we have no existing relationship. This type of scenario often leads to less-than-optimal results, scheduling, and quality control issues. We desire to maintain better control of the product we are providing for our clients.
I don’t own land yet, but I would really like to meet and begin work on designing my home.
No. We do not start our pre-construction process with someone until they have secured land. In terms of architectural design specifically, we believe there are many reasons not to design a home prior to land being secured.
The topography or grading of the lot, the direction the home will face relative to the sun, the immediate surrounding views, and the specific utilities that will be required on a particular lot can all have a major impact on the design. For these reasons and others, we do not believe it is beneficial to design a home in theory before knowing where it will be built.

I have plans from an architect and am looking to build a home with no expense spared.
Maybe. While we have the capability to perform high-end projects, we do not always have the immediate capacity to do so. Please contact us to confirm if your timing will align with ours. We only take on projects like this when we know that we have the time and resources to perform them with excellence.
I have building plans already completed and am looking to price out 5-7 builders.
Probably not. While we appreciate people doing their homework and wanting to meet with a few builders, we are generally more interested in a relationship built on integrity and trust rather than bidding against a long list of other builders.
I am looking to find a builder that I can develop a relationship with and trust with my project. I have land secured in Lancaster County, I can spend $500,000 or more for my project, and I prefer to take my time planning things out. I have been dreaming about my project for many years and I am searching for someone who will take great pride in providing a home for my family.
Yes! You sound like our ideal client. Reach out to us today in whichever method you prefer😊

I want to know a cost per square foot but don’t know what type of addition and renovation I want.
No. Each addition and renovation we build is unique, and so are the materials and time needed to construct each one. While there are some cost guides for specific projects, most projects don’t fit the “one size fits all” parameters.
